ABOUT SHIRLEY MAGNIEZ-POUGET
I am a French qualified international lawyer specializing in sustainability, business and human rights, climate and biodiversity. With over 20 years of experience, I bring a unique perspective to my clients, drawing from my extensive travels for both work and leisure, and my diverse experience in private practice, Third Sector, and governmental agencies. Here is what I do:• I advise clients on ESG regulatory frameworks, with a focus on human rights due diligence and reporting obligations and support companies and non-for-profit organizations in the design of compliance programs- from policy review and drafting, due diligence processes including stakeholder engagement, establishing grievance mechanisms to running trainings.• I assist clients in the conduct of internal investigations into allegations of wrongdoings, including human rights violations. I work with governments in the Global South to design carbon‑market regulations, with a growing focus on fair and effective benefit‑sharing systems.• I assist Parties during UN led International environmental negotiations ( CBD)• I build law enforcement agencies\' capacities on environmental crimes and illegal wildlife trade. • I have significant experience in running international fact-finding missions, trial observations, reviewing and advising legislative and policy frameworks, drafting submissions to UN bodies and mechanisms as well as reports and thought leadership. • Fun facts: As a mother of three and an avid trail runner, I am a high spirited multi-tasker with an entrepreneurial and positive impact mindset as well as a women & girls rights advocate.
