ABOUT SHILPA JOSHI

Taking on a new industry, I venture into capital market that is at the forefront of regulatory landscape at none other than NSE India as Vice President Legal responsible for leading contracts portfolio. Over 18 years of PQE, I have had the opportunity of straddling through law firm as well as in-house counsel that gives me unique perspective of marrying business requirement with customised legally & commercially viable solutions. At Godrej Agrovet group, I was responsible to assist the HOD in handling varied legal matters for chemicals, dairy and food industry. This was indeed an hands on experience in dealing with almost every type of legal matter from statutory compliance, land, IPR, employee, tax - GST, contracts as as M&A with a deep insight into manufacturing, retail, food and FMCG kind of operations. During my stint at M&M, I have honed various skills of drafting and negotiations of date to day to to complex legal matters across categories of laws such as commercial laws - agreements, Mergers & Acquisitions, litigation, Industrial Property Rights (both National and International), Company Law & Commercial Disputes, Land related matters and Statutory Compliances.During these years, I\'ve gained experience in drafting, negotiating, reviewing and finalizing of various types of M&A DD - definitive documentation, agreements/licenses like sale agreements, non-disclosure agreements, trademark license and IP assignments, vendor agreements, franchise agreements, land related documentation etc, statutory compliances, packaging label reviews, IP registrations et al. Apart from all this, I have conceptualised and been actively involved in various department initiatives for the betterment of legal department such as knowledge updates, legal outreach, standardisation of documentations, digitisation, litigation and document management systems.Prior to these in-house stints, my introduction and shaping of litigation experience in the early years took place at Manilal Kher Ambalal & Co. I was opportune to handle complex commercial disputes for several large corporations such as NSE, ICICI, Hindalco, L&T et al. I represented clients before various courts / fora such as Bombay High Court, DRTs, CESTAT etc.
