I\'m a journo with three decades under my belt in two countries, India and the United States. In the U.S, where I\'ve spent most of my professional (and non-professional) life, I worked at The Detroit News editorial page and Reason magazine. I\'ve scribbled occasionally for The New York Times, Wall Street Journal, The Times of London, Los Angeles Times etc etc. I\'ve always worried about state tyranny in all its forms, which is why I\'ve been a libertarian. But the rise of right-wing illiberalism requires us to pivot from defending markets to defending far more core values of liberalism such as toleration, pluralism and diversity.
