About Shige Honjo
Nest’s second employee and founding team member, Shige Honjo, was on the executive team, and he built and led various roles at Nest including: Product Management, Industrial Design, User Experience, User Interface, HW Engineering, New Product Innovation, Engineering Program Management and Manufacturing Operations. Nest was founded in May 2010 and purchased by Google in Feb 2014. Nest products continue to be sold today through the Google Nest brand. Shige has over 30 years of consumer electronics product definition, design, development, and execution experience on more than a dozen mobile and smart phones and other game changing consumer products. Prior to Nest, Shige was the Lead Engineering Program Manager at Apple for several early generations of iPhone, from concept to ramp. In his time after Nest and Google, he has served as CEO of Frontline Support, a nonprofit that procured PPE during the COVID-19 pandemic and an advisor to several startups in the silicon valley area. He received his Bachelor of Electrical Engineering from Georgia Institute of Technology. Shige is passionate about building beautifully designed products that are simple to use and solve important problems. His secret talent is making things happen, even when it seems impossible.
