ABOUT SHIFA SHAIKH

As a System Engineer at ALTEN, I support Rolls Royce in developing and testing large civil aviation engines, applying my expertise in combustion and system design. I have successfully carried out root cause and failure investigation on two engine sub-systems, using various methods and tools, and proposed solutions and mitigation strategies. I have also contributed to the development of processes and methods for improving the system engineering and verification tasks.I hold a Master of Science in Aerospace, Aeronautical and Astronautical/Space Engineering from Cranfield University, where I conducted a comprehensive research on the combustion performance and energy release of boron-infused solid fuels for advanced propulsion systems. I used advanced techniques and experimental setups to characterize, formulate, and test six fuel samples, and analyzed the results using high-speed imaging and data visualization. I presented my findings at an international conference and published a paper in am also the Vice Team Lead at SpaceCareers.uk, a volunteer-based organization that connects students and young professionals with opportunities in the space sector. I oversee the collaboration and progress of four sub-teams, and support their marketing, event organization, content writing, and operations activities. I also act as the point of contact between employers and candidates, and maintain a record of job postings and enquiries on the website.I am a motivated, innovative, and culturally diverse engineer with a passion for space systems and aviation. I have strong communication and interpersonal skills, as well as a resilient and proactive approach to problem-solving. I am eager to take on challenging projects that require superior performance and collaboration.
