ABOUT SHIBU JOHN

Principal clinical bioinformatician with 20 years\' experience across NHS diagnostics, Illumina, and clinical genomics. My work centres on building and maintaining NGS pipelines that actually work in production - from liquid biopsy and WGS analysis to automated reporting workflows and cloud infrastructure. I\'ve spent most of my career in regulated environments where the pipelines have to be right, not just functional. That means ISO 15189, IVDR validation, UKAS audits, and clinical variant interpretation alongside the technical work. On the technical side, I work mainly in Python, R, and Bash, with Nextflow, AWS, and DRAGEN making up the core stack. I\'m at my best when the problem sits at the intersection of bioinformatics, clinical science, and engineering. Most recently I\'ve been leading the build of end-to-end AVITI sequencer integration and automating Seqera-based pipeline launches at Nonacus.
