ABOUT SHIAMAK BARIA-UNWALLA

I have worn many hats over the course of my professional and academic career: creator, producer, manager, problem-solver, academician, voice-over artist, client servicer, writer, interviewer, presenter, and editor, to name a few.As a Manager at Sportz Interactive, I led a team of more than 25 people, most of whom I personally recruited and mentored. I oversaw content for diverse clients such as NBA India, Punjab Kings, UFC India, Gujarat Titans, Adani Sportsline, and Procam International. Alongside creative direction, I also managed brand relationships. In my tenure with the Brand Solutions team at New Emerging World of Journalism, I looked into content strategies for flagship brands and in-house sports platforms GameOn and Cover Drive. As a Creative Producer with Oaktree Sports, I produced a cricket podcast called 22 Yarns with Gaurav Kapur which became India’s top-rated podcast on Spotify during its run. I was responsible for the research, production, and editing across the first three seasons. As a video producer at ESPNcricinfo, I produced non-live studio shows, News and Feature packages for cross-platform publishing, and produced and scripted Social Media segments for IGTV and Facebook. I worked closely with former cricketers and studio experts and I’ve also supervised on-site outdoor shoots with them. In my role at CricketCountry I covered matches via live blogs, wrote match previews and reports, covered news, conducted interviews for both print and video, wrote feature stories, and handled social media. I also hosted YouTube and Facebook Live videos.I hold a Master’s degree in Journalism from Monash University, Melbourne, along with a PGD in Journalism and Mass Communication and a BA in English Literature from St Xavier\'s College, Ahmedabad. At Monash University, Melbourne, I served as Entertainment Editor for Mojo News and as Chief Video Editor and Series Producer of \'The Struggle\', a satirical news show produced in-house at Monash University which airs on Melbourne\'s Channel 31. I also produced a podcast series titled \'My Incredible Ancestor\' and contributed to another podcast series titled \'Culture Corner\'.
