ABOUT SHERRY FANG-SHIUAN L.

Sherry Leung is a biomedical researcher with 10 years of experience in mouse genetic models and a current UC Irvine PhD student. Her research focuses on (IRDs) by. developing and studies. analyzing data to identify and validate pathogenic variants. and establishing a deep genetic-testing pipeline integrated into an IRD patient-registry platform. Previously, Sherry completed her B.S. in Biological Sciences at UC Davis, where her interest in in vivo modeling and clinical applications began through research in inflammation, tissue regeneration, behavior studies, and mouse genetic engineering. She then conducted research at UC San Francisco on craniofacial and foregut development, generated CRISPR/Cas9 i-GONAD mouse lines for multiple labs as a mini mouse core, and investigated the role of the chaperone protein Pfdn1 in cleft palate and brain development.Outside of academia, Sherry has held roles in various non-profit biomedical and entrepreneur associations, aiming to with young scientists in the biomedical field while for the importance of biomedical research to the general public. With expertise in mouse genetics, gene therapy, and ophthalmology, Sherry is eager to explore the intersection of business and biomedical applications as she continue her doctoral training.
