   Valeo Vocation is a dream I had after working four years in the for-profit staffing market, followed by three in the social services sector. As my career experience is founded in workforce development and emboldened by a passion to serve others, I began to envision combining the long-term employment program I was running with the model that I was familiar selling in the staffing market. Why not combine the two philosophies in order to end homelessness for those seeking to secure full-time, livable wage employment? Why had a non-profit staffing agency not been thought of before? Turns out, it had! After conducting research, I found https://altstaffing.org/about-the-sector/ and learned of several national, non-profit staffing agencies that have infused their communities with exactly what I was envisioning. And so, I got to work. I, with the help of a genius business partner, reached out to a Seattle-based organization that has been doing employment work for 95 years. They recently implemented a staffing agency concept to their work and have been cutting paychecks for 4 years. And they agreed to help us get up and running. And so! A small girl, a big dream and a hope for the future later, Valeo Vocation is born. We will be doing a small launch in the next month and will be fully operational and serving the Tacoma area by mid to late summer. So who is Valeo? We are a new social enterprise focused on helping those experiencing homelessness obtain stable employment and permanent housing. For our clients, we offer low-barrier access to employment, comprehensive case management, financial counseling, professional development, vocational training and robust supportive services (such as assistance in securing stable housing). For our customers, we offer qualified workers to meet demanding staffing needs. And for our community? We offer hope and the opportunity for businesses, residents and community members to come together to solve the problem of homelessness.
