ABOUT SHERREE DALLYN

I have more than 15 years of experience conducting environmental investigations throughout North America. I have managed both pre-development and contaminant projects. These projects include aquatic risk assessments, QAES assessments, wetland and watercourse classifications, vegetation, wildlife and fisheries inventories and mitigation planning, wetland creation, emergency spill response, phase II environmental assessments, environmental baseline analysis, resource sampling, and regulatory negotiations. The majority of my work currently focuses on spill response for aquatic or sensitive ecosystems. For each spill, I identify and assess ecological receptors. These receptors include water quality, aquatic life (fish, amphibians, and invertebrates), wildlife, vegetation, and soils. At each site, I complete a series of inventories and assessments to help develop and execute actions plans to protect and/or restore the receptors. I also complete ecological risk assessments to determine the potential hazards to receptors when contaminants are left in place. Finally, at the end of a spill, I design and complete habitat restoration projects including watercourse channel designs and wetland creations. I’ve conducted a number of studies and including phytoremediation, rhizofiltration and bacteria as means of contaminant removal, designing biological assays for amphibians and investigating the cause of aquatic resource loss in waterbodies.I am also the inventor on two patented technologies designed for low impact spill response into wetlands. These technologies earned my former employer the ESSA 2017 Environmental Innovation Award.
