The new center has six teaching labs with state-of-the-art equipment, two bioinformatics labs, and a planned exhibition. Programs include high school and middle school field trips during the academic year, summer camps, extended research projects, and presentations for the public. Mentor training for teachers and mobile equipment footlockers support in-school experiments.As a DNALC college intern we are expected to help prepare and maintain various equipment and reagents necessary to providing a quality genetics education to students in middle school and above.Some of our responsibilities include; Preparation of solutions and media, Maintenance of bacterial, C. elegans, and Drosophila strains. Classroom upkeep, equipment setup, and inventory management. Packing equipment and reagents for offsite kits to be used by teachers in school.Reagent testing and record keeping.
