   In May 2017, the RCEA launched our Community Choice Energy program for Humboldt County. The CCE allows residents to choose whether their electricity source is the investor-owned utility (status quo), or the CCE (greater proportion of local and renewable energy sources). We are now moving forward with developing greater local renewable energy sources through 1) the Airport Microgrid solar project (in concert with the Schatz Energy Research Center, PG & E, and Humboldt County), and 2) offshore wind energy (with a consortium including Principle Power, EDP Renewables, Aker Solutions, and HT Harvey).
