Sherif Hassan is the Founder and Principal of Syh Strategies, where he advises lenders, fintech companies, and operators on credit, risk, automation, and operating model design. His work sits at the intersection of finance, technology, and execution, helping organizations build durable systems that scale responsibly.Sherif began his career with a technical foundation, earning undergraduate and graduate degrees in civil and ocean engineering from Stevens Institute of Technology. That training shaped his analytical approach and problem-solving mindset, which he initially applied in the field of international development. His early work focused on reconstruction and community-driven initiatives in developing and post-conflict regions, where he gained firsthand experience with complex systems, cross-cultural collaboration, and the importance of localized solutions.He later transitioned into financial services, joining OnDeck Capital during its growth years. Over seven years, Sherif traveled extensively across the United States, working closely with small business owners, sales teams, and operators in dozens of markets. That experience gave him a ground-level view of how small businesses actually function, how capital decisions affect real operations, and how scale introduces both opportunity and fragility. It also reinforced his belief that access to well-designed financial products and disciplined risk frameworks can materially improve outcomes for businesses and lenders alike.Sherif founded Syh Strategies to bring that perspective to organizations navigating growth, complexity, and change. As Principal, he leads engagements spanning credit strategy, underwriting frameworks, automation, operational design, and risk management. His work emphasizes clarity over complexity, alignment between credit and finance, and systems that are explainable, auditable, and built to evolve. Sherif has authored original research and holds copyrights related to operations, credit, automation, and risk.Outside of client work, Sherif remains engaged in philanthropic efforts aligned with economic access and community development.
