About Sheridan Smith
Returning from: I’m a photographer, journalist, and editor based in New York City. My visual and written work has been published in the San Francisco Chronicle, NPPA, Maxim, and The Borgen Project, and I regularly assist assignments for The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, and National Geographic.I designed my NYU degree in the ethics of visual journalism in the digital age. Today, I am engaged at the forefront of conversations around the moral responsibility of photojournalists in the age of AI, advocating for integrity, empathy, and transparency in visual storytelling.My work sits at the intersection of visual storytelling, global affairs, and emerging tech ethics, and I’m preparing to pursue a Master\'s in International Affairs at Columbia University with a concentration in Technology, Policy, and Innovation. Recent personal and photojournalistic projects have centered on the NYC mayoral election, NYC nightlife, post-pandemic overtourism in Europe, the resurgence of psychedelic research, and the fentanyl crisis in New York City.I believe in the power of photography to spark social change. Evermore in the liminal space between portrayal and reportage, my work presents an honest inquiry into personhood through the visual form.
