ABOUT SHEREIF MAHMOUD
Shereif Mahmoud is a Senior Water Resources Engineer | Hydrotechnical Engineer (P.Eng, ing.) registered in Alberta, British Columbia, and Québec, with 15+ years of experience delivering water resources solutions across mining and infrastructure projects. Shereif leads multi-disciplinary teams through planning, value engineering, detailed design, and regulatory support, with a focus on practical, operations-ready outcomes. Shereif’s core expertise includes mine water management, hydrologic and hydraulic assessments, flood mapping and protective infrastructure, streamflow monitoring and forecasting, statistical hydrology, and climate change resilience for water systems.Shereif has more than a decade of experience analyzing flood regimes in Canada, including the influence of climate variability and climate change. Shereif has supported clients on water allocation, surface hydrology and water quality assessments, and the development of mitigation strategies to manage drought, flooding, and operational risk. Shereif’s mining experience spans site-wide water management planning, water balance and water quality modelling support, and detailed design of water management infrastructure (e.g, conveyance and control structures, storage elements, and flood management features), along with preparation of technical documentation for environmental assessments and regulatory submissions.Shereif also has experience in applying artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning in hydrological modeling, streamflow forecasting, and environmental data analysis. He has developed custom analytical tools and automation scripts using Python and R to enhance predictive accuracy and support decision-making in water resource management. In addition to his professional practice, Shereif has a strong background in Canadian hydrology through both research and applied projects.
