About Sheo Singh
Over 30 years of drug discovery and development experience (24 years at Merck) from bench to leadership position with increasing responsibilities covering wide therapeutic areas including strategies for program executions- anticancer, cardiovascular, hypertension, anthelmintic, antiparasitic, coccidiostat, antimalarial, immunoregulant, anti-diabetics, antiviral including HIV- with last ten years concentrating in the discovery and development of antibiotics to treat bacterial resistant infections. Discovered platensimycin and platencin as FAS inhibitor and rationally correlated liver specific FAS inhibition with glucose lowering and repurposed platensimycin as antidiabetic agent; discovered kibdelomycin and thiazomycin(s) as oral Clostridium difficle agents. Over twenty years project leadership and management experience that include leading and managing multiple projects simultaneously. Extensive experience (over 10 years membership of Merck\'s anti-infective research licensing committee) in in- and out-licensing strategy, due diligence and technology transfer activities. Functional experiences include medicinal and natural products chemistry, analytical chemistry, de novo structure elucidation, complex purification, and virtual drug discovery and development, CRO and partner management. Oversaw, discovered and/or contributed to the discovery of more than nine preclinical development candidates including antibiotic/antifungal/antiparasitic agents, and represented a few in Early Development Teams. A natural product lead from these discoveries led to an analog, which was conjugated with an ADC to an FDA approved drug, brentuximab vedotin (ADCETRIS(TM)). Two products, OXI4503 and ZYBRESTAT(TM), are in phase human trials for treatment of cancer.
