About Shelly S.
I’m a Psychology major transitioning into ABA support as a Behavioral Technician, driven by a deep interest in learner-centered care for children with autism and developmental differences. I’m especially passionate about helping children build communication, independence, emotional regulation, and confidence through consistent, compassionate, and evidence-based support. My background in psychology gives me a strong foundation in behavior, development, and empathy, while my natural curiosity and commitment to learning push me to continuously grow my ABA skill set. I value collaboration, clear communication, and building trust with clients, families, and clinical teams alike. Before pivoting into ABA support, I spent several years in the hospitality industry, where I managed teams, served diverse populations, and learned how to stay calm, flexible, and solutions-focused in fast-paced, high-pressure environments. Those experiences strengthened my patience, resilience, and ability to follow structure while adapting to individual needs, skills that translate directly into behavioral support work.I’ve also navigated significant personal challenges, including incarceration and addiction. Through accountability, self-reflection, and sustained recovery, I’ve rebuilt my life with intention. That journey deeply informs how I show up today: trauma-aware, nonjudgmental, consistent, and committed to growth.both for myself and the individuals I support. My long-term goal is to continue my education and become an Occupational Therapist specializing in work with children on the autism spectrum. Every role I take on now is a deliberate step toward that vision, grounded in service, learning, and meaningful impact.Outside of work and school, I’m a proud new grandma, fueled by coffee, curiosity, and a genuine love of learning. I’m excited to join a team where I can contribute, grow, and support children and families with care and purpose.
