ABOUT SHELLEY DOWIE

Head of Yacht OperationsWith a keen passion for sailing and a desire to explore the oceans, I started in the superyacht industry in working from deckhand to captain in a career that spanned over 10 years at sea. Since coming ashore in 2010 I have worked for some of the leading Yacht Management Companies in the Industry in the role of Head of Yacht Management.With a passion for safety and leadership, I have recently joined Edmiston as Head of Yacht Operations where I am concentrating on developing our fleet and making sure our existing fleet of yachts are operated safely and to the highest standard. I have the privilege of working with an amazingly bright and dedicated team who continually go the extra mile for our yachts and clients.I consider myself to be a very professional and highly motivated individual. My key skills are organization, mentorship, ability to work under pressure, adaptability and all round excellent leader both at sea and ashore. Known as a \'fire fighter\', when faced with a challenge or emergency situation, I draw on my experience and critical thinking in dynamic environments to effectively manage the situation, quickly and with confidence.My areas of industry expertise include all aspects of Yacht Operations, mentorship and leadership.During my time at sea I travelled to over 50 countries experiencing several cultures and exploring the oceans.I am interested in building networks and connecting with likeminded industry individuals.
