About Shelley A. Szeghi
I am and experienced Archaeologist with 17 years working in the Federal sector. Following a brief stint working for the private sector in Kentucky, I launched my career as an intern at Grand Canyon National Park. What was meant to be only a summer seasonal position morphed into a three year adventure in one of the most beautiful National Parks in America. My work included conducting numerous pedestrian inventories, ruins stabilization, excavations, site recording, READ advising, and mentoring new staff. Following my time at Grand Canyon National Park, I moved on to Yosemite National Park where I participated in a variety of data recovery excavation projects, construction monitoring projects, archaeological site condition assessments, and backcountry trails projects. After another fantastic four years in one of our Country\'s beautiful National Parks, I came to NRCS Utah, where myself, my husband, our two boys, three dogs, and several aquarium fish have now laid down our roots! What I love most about NRCS Utah is having the opportunity to support our Agricultural Community and being able to conduct archaeological inventory on privately owned lands. Without agencies like NRCS, the archeological record on these lands would be largely unknow. It\'s a privilege to be able to add this unique data to the archaeological record and assist our local farmers and ranchers implement their projects.
