About Shelley Laws

I am an in-house attorney and a member of the Retail Money Team at TD Bank. I support bank operations and I work with a team of legal professionals to support cross-border banking, global security investigations, consumer deposit products and payments and retail branches. Previously, I was a member of the Litigation Department at TD Bank. I managed a portfolio of cases in the retail banking and auto finance divisions. Specifically, I managed litigation cases in the retail banking area dealing with fraud, improper indorsement/endorsement, UCC, small claims, work-out and lending and I managed cases in the auto-finance area dealing with alleged violations of TCPA, FCRA, FDCPA, Truth-in-Lending, wrongful repossession, holder-in-due course, collections, small claims actions. I was selected to be a 2019 Fellow for the Leadership Council for Legal Diversity. I was chairperson of the U.S. Learning Committee and I was a member of TD\'s Employee Experience Council and Minorities in Leadership Subcommittee. Previously, I was an associate at Fox Rothschild LLP and focused on commercial and business-related litigation in its Philadelphia office. I am licensed to practice law in both New Jersey and Pennsylvania. Before my time at Fox, I clerked for the Honorable Marie E. Lihotz in NJ Superior Court, Appellate Division during the 2007 – 2008 court term. In 2007, I graduated from Seton Hall University, School of Law in Newark, NJ. I interned with the U.S. Attorney\'s Office in Newark and participated in the law school\'s Civil Litigation Clinic. I graduated from Swarthmore College in 2001 with a degree in Economics. I participated in Swarthmore\'s Student Budget Committee and Student Affairs Committee. Additionally, I was a Student Academic Mentor and an Admissions Fellow. I am a member of the Barristers’ Association of Philadelphia. Currently, I am chair of the Board of Directors for Action Wellness, a local non-profit supporting people living with and affected by chronic illnesses. In addition, I am a volunteer in Action Wellness’s Buddy Program.
