ABOUT SHELLEY JOHNSON

I\'m a food myth buster and fact finder. I\'m a builder of successful teams. A creator of inspiring educational experiences. Motivated to positively impact public health through delicious, nutritious food. It\'s time to build on the rewarding career experiences I\'ve had so far with new ones in regulatory compliance. As an ambitious graduate student, I didn\'t know that volunteering to speak to a massive audience of women at the Working Women\'s Survival Show in St. Louis alongside a local chef would someday turn into a fruitful job opportunity with the National Cattlemen\'s Beef Association. The experience was the perfect blend of teaching others to make a satisfying meal, demonstrating how tasty food can improve health and public speaking. I didn\'t shy away from public speaking at my very first job as a Registered Dietitian, either. I boldly (bravely!) presented a technical deck of slides about food/herbal supplement interactions to an audience of dietetic educators of practitioners - a tough audience for anyone with a brand new credential. This experience taught me even more about deepening my understanding of scientific evidence before communicating it and how to do it effectively. In my nine years with the National Cattlemen\'s Beef Association, I supported many others\' successful lectures by managing a highly reputable speakers bureau while developing internal presentations, scientifically-supported talking points and consumer-tested campaigns to promote beef as a food for health. I had the most fun working with teams to develop and execute learning opportunities for my health professional peers. Some were virtual and many were personalized, intimate gatherings which enabled open dialogue, advocacy and collaboration. I value meaningful work and seek to collaborate with others who are also resourceful, passionate, visionary, loyal, spontaneous and committed. I chose the best possible career path for myself: one that is full of enjoyment, flexibility and growth.
