I had always wanted to write a novel. Books generally get more favorable reviews than legal documents. So, my wife set me up with a laptop and I was off. I wrote my first book, Special Circumstances, on the laptop during my daily commute on the ferry from Marin County to San Francisco. I have now published seven best selling legal thrillers featuring San Francisco criminal defense attorneys Mike Daley and Rosie Fernandez. I decided to use my hometown of Chicago as the setting for a new series featuring Chicago homicide detectives David Gold and A.C. Battle in a novel called The Terrorist Next Door.My books have made the NY Times Bestseller list and have been translated into a dozen languages and sold millions of copies worldwide. I am currently working on a new book in the Mike & Rosie series to be released in 2016.
