ABOUT SHELDON ANDERSON
Métis Nation British Columbia (MNBC) champions culturally safe and inclusive healthcare for Métis communities. As a Métis Health Systems Advocate with over a year of experience, I collaborate with Island Health to align health policies and strategic planning with the needs of six Métis Chartered Communities. My work prioritizes equitable healthcare access, addressing racism in health systems, and fostering meaningful partnerships to advance culturally informed care. Previously, at Surrounded By Cedar Family & Child Services, I supported Indigenous youth through individualized care planning, promoting cultural connections, and facilitating access to essential resources. Guided by principles of reconciliation, I strive to uphold frameworks like the Truth and Reconciliation Commission\'s Calls to Action and the In Plain Sight Report, ensuring every initiative reflects a commitment to equity, collaboration, and community well-being.
