ABOUT SHELDON DURSTLING

I am an educator with over a decade of experience teaching Grades 3–12 across mainstream, Cogito, Gifted and Talented, and Career & Technology Studies programs. I currently teach at the high school level, specializing in Digital Design, Communication Technology, and Computing Science. My work focuses on helping students build real-world technical and creative skills while fostering an inclusive, supportive classroom environment. My passion for education extends far beyond day-to-day teaching. I’ve supported pre-service teachers at the University of Alberta in integrating educational technology into their practice, marked Grade 6 Provincial Achievement Tests for many years, produced instructional videos watched by thousands of children across Alberta, and created a global resource-sharing platform for educators. Throughout my career, I have remained deeply committed to serving neurodivergent and twice-exceptional learners, ensuring they see themselves as capable, valued, and successful. In 2015, I was honoured to be nominated for an Alberta Excellence in Teaching Award, and in 2019, I received Autism Edmonton’s Education Champion Award for my contributions to the Edmonton and area autism community.Beyond education, I bring extensive experience in digital media, frontend development, and brand-focused creative work. I am skilled in graphic design, video production, UI/UX design, copywriting, SEO and analytics, and social media strategy. These strengths support my ability to design engaging learning experiences and build polished digital products, resources, and content for students and educators.I’m driven by challenge, innovation, and meaningful relationships. Whether I’m teaching, designing, mentoring, or building, my goal is always the same: to create exceptional learning experiences that empower students and strengthen the communities I serve.
