ABOUT SHELBY CAIN
As a business professional, I am determined to solve organizations’ most pressing challenges and deliver unprecedented growth. Over the course of my career, I have developed a strong skill set of project management, technical analysis, and team leadership that has helped me excel in a wide range of capacities including corporate finance, marketing, and international community organizing. I am especially passionate about facilitating the circular economy, maximizing efficiencies, and learning about sustainable innovations in the consumer-packaged goods industry. I have an innate ability to strategically breakdown and become an expert on very complex and integrated problems. I can then figure out how to leverage a team, available resources, and my own high degree of determination to create and execute a solution.I often think big picture. I enjoy exploring and have facilitated opportunities in cross-sector collaboration to help further both business and social impact goals. As a returned Peace Corps Volunteer, I have seen how improved global understanding and cross-functional partnership in business operations can minimize waste, uncover growth opportunities, and improve livelihoods for vulnerable populations. Considering how my work benefits others beyond myself and being of service to others is my daily motivation.Currently, I am an MBA candidate at University of Chicago Booth, Class of 2022. My degree concentrations are in Finance, Operations Management, Strategic Management, and Entrepreneurship. During my time at Chicago Booth, I have facilitated the MBA program’s leadership development course, completed student consulting projects for the Small Business Growth Program, lead both the food, environment, and agriculture development (FEAD) and Net Impact student groups, and am an active member of the African American MBA Association. In my spare time, I run a charity that funds education for children orphaned due to the impacts of HIV/AIDS in Zambia and enjoy running, painting, reading, and gardening.
