   Professor | Interim Chair, Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, Rush University Medical Center | Chair of the Rush Women’s Leadership Council | Carol Emmott Fellow 2019Dr. Sheila Dugan is a Professor in the Departments of Preventive Medicine, Neurosurgery and Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at Rush University Medical Center in Chicago where she is involved in clinical care, education and research. She is the Chair of the Rush Women’s Leadership Council and a member of the Rush Diversity Leadership Council and ADA Task ForceBACKGROUNDDr. Dugan has been a clinician scientist for 30+ years in both Physical Therapy and Medicine. She is presently the Interim Chair of PM & R. Her research interests include pelvic wellness; health equity; the health benefits of physical activity, in particular in underserved populations; and pain, function and visceral fat in women at menopause. Sheila also created a program in the Rush Road Home Program for victims of military sexual trauma. She Co-Directs the Rush Program for Abdominal and Pelvic Health.While she was the Training Director for the Rush Center for Urban Health Equity, Sheila co-developed the Masters in Clinical Research Reading Course-Health Disparities Research Reading course. She has been Course Director since 2010.TEACHING RESPONSIBILITIES Dr. Dugan’s annual teaching responsibilities at Rush Medical College include: Faculty Advisor, Capstone Program for M1-M3 students Lecturer Anatomy-Clinical Correlates for Pelvic Floor Residency in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Residency in Neurosurgery Fellowships in Primary Care Sports Medicine Road Home Program – Military Sexual Trauma Cohorts Residency in OB-Gyn – PGY-4 Chicagoland Pelvic Floor Journal Club and Research ConsortiumDr. Dugan practices wellness including walking and yoga.
