She is the Chair of the Rush Women’s Leadership Council and a member of the Rush Diversity Leadership Council and ADA Task ForceBACKGROUNDDr. Dugan has been a clinician scientist for 30+ years in both Physical Therapy and Medicine. She is presently the Interim Chair of PM & R. Her research interests include pelvic wellness; health equity; the health benefits of physical activity, in particular in underserved populations; and pain, function and visceral fat in women at menopause. Sheila also created a program in the Rush Road Home Program for victims of military sexual trauma. She Co-Directs the Rush Program for Abdominal and Pelvic Health.While she was the Training Director for the Rush Center for Urban Health Equity, Sheila co-developed the Masters in Clinical Research Reading Course-Health Disparities Research Reading course. She has been Course Director since 2010.TEACHING RESPONSIBILITIES Dr. Dugan’s annual teaching responsibilities at Rush Medical College include: Faculty Advisor, Capstone Program for M1-M3 students Lecturer Anatomy-Clinical Correlates for Pelvic Floor Residency in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Residency in Neurosurgery Fellowships in Primary Care Sports Medicine Road Home Program – Military Sexual Trauma Cohorts Residency in OB-Gyn – PGY-4 Chicagoland Pelvic Floor Journal Club and Research ConsortiumDr. Dugan practices wellness including walking and yoga.
