ABOUT RUBANA HOSSAIN

As a dedicated public health professional with a Master of Public Health in Sociomedical Sciences from Columbia University, I am passionate about advancing health equity for underserved and immigrant communities. I currently serve as a Health Science Specialist at the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, where my work focuses on geriatric research and understanding the complex health needs of older adults living with chronic conditions.In addition to my research role, I am honored to serve as Secretary on the Board of Directors for the South Asian Public Health Association (SAPHA), where I support efforts to strengthen community-centered public health initiatives and policy advocacy. I’ve contributed to multidisciplinary projects examining the intersections of aging, mental health stigma, and health disparities, and I co-author research protocols aimed at improving care outcomes for diverse populations. My professional journey spans roles in pandemic response, immigrant health outreach, and public health emergency preparedness — experiences that have shaped my commitment to evidence-based interventions and inclusive health systems. Whether collaborating with clinical teams, community partners, or academic researchers, I strive to turn data and stories into actions that promote wellness and reduce inequities.I’m always eager to connect with fellow public health advocates, researchers, and professionals dedicated to equitable health solutions.
