ABOUT FAISAL R.

Dr. Sheikh Faisal Rashid completed his Ph.D.(Dr.‑Ing.) in Computer Science (focused on Machine Learning) at the University of Kaiserslautern, Germany in 2014, and he has since gained valuable experience as a senior researcher at the German Research Center for Artificial Intelligence (DFKI), Germany and professor at the University of Engineering and Technology (UET) Lahore, Pakistan. His research focuses on supervised machine learning to develop and apply robust, efficient, and responsible AI to effectively tackle complex societal challenges, advance applications of AI in health care, and explore generative AI for educational technologies. His long-term research agenda is dedicated to advancing” AI for Social Good” while paying attention to its ethical challenges. Dr. Rashid is actively engaged in cutting‑edge research, resulting in around 40 publications in top-tier conferences and journals, such as ACM Transactions on Interactive Intelligent Systems. His work revolves around applications of AI in the fields of document image processing, natural language processing, computer vision, and educational technology. Dr. Rashid is also a vice president of the Pakistan Pattern Recognition Society (PPRS) which is officially affiliated with the International Association of Pattern Recognition (IAPR) and a professional member of ACM.
