ABOUT SHEELA DEVI R
Mindfulness has made me less selfish than I was when I began in my early twenties. It is supported by my daily morning chai and zazen practice. Meditation calms the inner rage and helps me suffer less. I believe mindfulness is a foundational capacity for human flourishing and the creation of a sustainable future.There is nothing to be achieved. Life is not an achievement; it is a gift. It has already been given. Prioritizing one’s peace is not a luxury; it is a necessity. Furthermore, a soulmate to oneself is the greatest gift. A soulmate is someone who can listen to you with equanimity.I grew up in a small village farming community in rural India. Like my peers, I followed the trends of globalization by moving to Canada. I do not love Canada simply because it is my home; I love it because it demonstrates what true decency looks like. Outside of work, I spend my days caring for my teenage daughter while exploring nature and enjoying the outdoors. I am passionate about environmental conservation and volunteer my time for women and children’s shelters.
