Collaborating with a multidisciplinary team of engineers and designers to develop a high-efficiency, solar-powered wood kiln aimed at drastically reducing the carbon footprint of the timber industry. •Systems Mapping & Control Logic: Designing the overarching system map and control framework for kiln operations, integrating heat pumps, PV arrays, and thermal storage. •Sensor Integration: Identifying and specifying sensor arrays (moisture, temperature, humidity, and airflow) to create real-time feedback loops for autonomous drying cycles. •Software Gap Analysis: Conducting a literature review and competitive analysis of intelligent kiln control software to identify optimisation opportunities using AI and game theory principles. •Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partnering with mechanical and computer engineering leads to bridge the gap between physical 3D simulation models and digital control systems. •Sustainability Impact: Contributing to the development of modular, off-grid drying solutions intended for remote and indigenous communities to improve local economic value and forest stewardship.
