ABOUT SHAYLA D. KENDRICKS

I am an Associate in Frost Brown Todd’s Real Estate and Commercial Finance practice groups. I focus my practice on the purchase, sale, development, financing, leasing, and management of commercial and residential real estate properties, including raw land. I also represent borrowers and lenders in New Markets Tax Credits as well as federal and state Historic Tax Credits. I am barred in the state of Ohio.I’m proud to be the Attorney Chair of the FBT’s Inclusion Network for Black team members and I serve as a Director of the Hearing Speech + Deaf Center.I am a daughter of Dayton, OH, a proud stutterer, and dog mom. Prior to joining FBT, I attended The Ohio State University Moritz College of Law where I was a dedicated and accomplished student leader. I served on the Student Bar Association as a Senator for Faculty Appointments and as the inaugural Chief of Staff. I also served as Professional Development Chair of Moritz\'s Black Law Students Association and was an active General Body Member. I received The Robert M. Duncan Service Scholarship Award for outstanding service to the College community, courage, and excellence, a CALI award for the highest grade in Commercial Leasing and I was the inaugural Justice Yvette McGee Brown Leadership Scholar, the Congressman William McCulloch Scholar, and a recipient of the Vogel International Fellowship. I spent my final semester studying European and International Business Law in Madrid, Spain. Before law school, I completed my Masters in Business Administration at Xavier University, where I was a Cintas Graduate Ethics Fellow, concentrating in ethics and governance. Prior to beginning my MBA, I completed a year of service as an AmeriCorps VISTA member, focused on capacity building and resource development to fund extended learning programs for impoverished K-6 students. I also have experience in budget planning, financial analysis, and business administration. In most of my positions, I utilized accounting principals in my daily tasks and have a strong understanding of their application both in reporting activities and financial analysis. I’ve interacted with executive leadership on a daily basis and have developed strong business acumen, never disregarding the importance of relationship building.
