In this role, I lead and manage three affinity groups for leaders in academic medicine: Group on Faculty Practice, Chief Medical Officers’ Group, and Group on Institutional Planning. Ensure their successful operations by providing high-quality networking, professional development (in-person and virtual), and interactive engagement with AAMC leadership and subject matter experts.Specifically, my day-to-day work involves the following:• Constituent & Group Management: Engage and lead the work of academic medicine volunteer leaders, including steering and advisory committees, subcommittees, and ad hoc project planning teams. Guide over 1,500 constituents to understand and navigate AAMC resources and initiatives. Effectively lead national dialogue around issues impacting academic medicine and health care. Responsible for governance of all groups. • Conference Development: Coordinate and facilitate professional development conferences, steering committee meetings, and other learning events. Create national leadership and education programs to advance leaders in academic medicine. Increased record-breaking attendance by 50-100% at conferences by leveraging network, relationship building, personalizing communications, and improving meeting content and overall conference experience. • Staff Management & Development: Supervise two direct reports, manage cross functional working teams, and work with external consultants and vendors. Responsible for developing two new positions within my work unit that resulted in 8 promotions and growth opportunities to date.• Communications & Resource Development: Managed a strategic overhaul of websites for affinity groups by adding instructive resources and user-friendly navigation tools. Developed and implemented a well-defined process to welcome new affinity group members. Work with constituents to develop resources for the wider academic medicine community such as the Strategic Planning Toolkit.
