ABOUT SHAWN MONDOUX

I’m an Emergency Physician and Deputy Chief of Emergency Medicine at St. Joseph’s Healthcare Hamilton, where I lead initiatives that bring data, technology, and people together to improve how care is delivered. With over 13 years in practice, I’ve developed a deep appreciation for the operational complexity of modern healthcare — and a passion for building systems that work smarter for both patients and clinicians. Before my current role, I founded and led Prognostiq Health, a digital health startup focused on transforming health system and practitioner data into actionable insights. Our team developed predictive analytics tools for hospital resource use and clinician performance feedback — work that continues to inform my efforts in integrating data-driven decision-making into healthcare operations. Today, I continue this mission as a health tech advisor, helping organizations design and implement technology that enhances quality, safety, and system performance.I also serve as Director of Assessment for McMaster University’s Undergraduate Medical Education (UGME) program, where I’m leading a renewal of medical assessment that integrates AI, analytics, and quality improvement principles into exam development and learner evaluation. My goal is to build systems that are not only fair and reliable, but also foster growth, reflection, and learning. My Google Scholar profile includes more than 90 academic publications and presentations in the areas of quality improvement, health system innovation, and medical education. I hold an MSc in Quality Improvement and Patient Safety from the University of Toronto and an MD from the University of Ottawa.
