ABOUT SHAWNA MILLER

For Entrepreneur, Volunteer, and Community Supporter Shawna Miller, building loyal relationships is the cornerstone of her career. Shawna’s genuine interest in people allows her to communicate clearly, compassionately and directly to them, encouraging and walking with them along the way. Shawna nurtures and mentors people at every level – from the new employee to the one ready to branch off and start a business – always determined to grow and learn from those around her. As the owner of several businesses including Subway restaurants across Northwestern Alberta, as Past Chair and Present Board Member of the Alberta Chamber of Commerce, and as an Employer Representative on The Workers Compensation Board of Alberta, Shawna shares and supports the unique, personal perspectives of small to medium sized businesses both on the ground and at the decision-making table. Shawna also serves as the Board Chair at Northwestern Polytechnic. Her dynamic, inclusive vision stems from her own experience as a strong, female, Métis entrepreneur. Above all, she is passionate about helping small businesses prosper. Shawna understands that real people own these companies, providing jobs and services while remaining an important part of the Canadian economy. Heading into the future, Shawna is both excited and optimistic about expanding her own business to offer employment opportunities and to meet the needs of her community.
