ABOUT SHAWN MORRIS

Combining knowledge of business and communication, talent acquisition and recruitment, and a history of working within mental and psychiatric health, I strive to assist my team with Yale New Haven Health in the sourcing and hiring of candidates. By using current media and resources such as LinkedIn, Indeed, as well as utilizing organizational systems such as ICIMs and Telemetry, I find, contact, and source candidates that meet the needs of a fast paced health care system, or direct these individuals to positions that are most suitable to their skills, talents and abilities. While with Chapel Haven, I created and promoted unique opportunities such as volunteering, interning, and employment. I strived to ensure every individual was given an equal opportunity to demonstrate their skills, abilities, and talents that make them unique, and give them a place in which they can utilize these aspects to grow, prosper and benefit other companies and organizations. Using current behavioral strategies, networking events, and communication with my team, I strengthened relationships between Chapel Haven Schliefer Center, and other organizations. In my previous career with Marrakech Inc, as a behavioral health employment specialist, I maintained a caseload of 18-40 individuals. By working in conjunction with Connecticut Mental Health Center, I assisted individuals in the development of communication and social skills, obtainment of competitive employment, and ensured individuals who\'ve obtained positions maintain their opportunities. My employment and education has given me the opportunity to work with Dr. Budnick of Southern Connecticut State University. Through my position as a research assistant, I assisted Dr. Budnick by developing hypothesis, conducting literature reviews, gathering participants, creating questionnaires, and engage in data analysis. While I enjoy overcoming new challenges, and adapting to novel situations, I enjoy assisting other individuals overcome their own challenges, and assisting them in adapting into environments that previously, they may not have been able to enter.
