About Shawn Hehl

I worked with John Eidemiller at the University of Toledo learning all of the ins and outs of production behind the camera for almost 3 years. But I have gained much experience in-front of the camera working with local sports analyst Tom Cole from BCSN. As a junior in high school I reached out to Tom about potentially becoming a sports broadcaster. This meeting resulted in me creating my own shorter version of a sports center like show on our school\'s tv broadcasted morning announcements for a little over a year and a half. During my high school and community college career I went to BCSN productions which Mr. Cole was a broadcaster and watched him and learned from him on how to broadcast a live production on a larger scale with much more sophisticated equipment than I was used to. After these experiences I graduated from Owens Community College and continued my higher education at the University of Toledo where I have turned my focus to the technology that makes it all happen and learning how those people do their jobs. Specifically I am interested an working to become a television production engineer. During my time at the University of Toledo I have worked multiple different levels of production from working on a 40\' truck broadcast for ESPN2, to working in a 20\' trailer for Raycom Media on a ESPN3 production, all the down to working one camera shoots where I am just recording a small event. During my last semester I have got the closest to Engineer work I have ever been working as an assistant technician in the UT:10 News broadcast studio under Studio Coordinator/EIC Kevin O\'Korn, performing essential duties that an engineer may perform. After graduation from UToledo I have moved to Nashua,NH where I was an engineering apprentice for Game Creek Video. After completing the apprenticeship I have moved to Buffalo,NY where I worked Buffalo Sabres broadcasts as well as any other broadcast that Game Creek Video asked me to work. After working for Game Creek Video for 2 years I received an offer to work for NEP Group on mobile unit SSCBS covering PGA tour golf and NFL football. As I continue my journey in this amazing career I am trying to find more ways to grow and become a better engineer every day.
