I’m Shavonne Johnson, Founder and CEO of Truly Valued—a nonprofit rooted in empowerment, character development, and belonging.My journey began in criminal justice at the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office. But over time, I realized my true purpose wasn’t in removing youth from their homes—it was in helping them grow, belong, and succeed right where they are.In 2016, I stepped out on faith and founded Truly Valued. I wanted to create something that didn’t just react to challenges—but helped prevent them. A safe space that nurtured self-worth, confidence, and character in students who are often overlooked or misunderstood.We started small—just a vision, a few students, and a few committed volunteers. Today, we serve 300+ youth annually across 17 locations in Manatee, Sarasota, and DeSoto Counties.It hasn’t always been easy—but it’s always been worth it.
