ABOUT SHAUNAK D.

I am an incoming MSc Financial Mathematics student of Queen Mary UoL, a BA Mathematics graduate of Merton College Oxford, an accomplished pianist/composer, an avid trainspotter, a dedicated tutor/mentor/coach, a curious programmer, and an aspiring change agent! Over the last few years, I have been building upon my academic pursuits and my experience as a tutor, through professional assignments. I have enjoyed working as part of diverse and high performing team during my week at Universify as a coach to GCSE students. Through my Optiver Spring Internship and Susquehanna Discovery Day I got a taste for finance and market making and how they impact individuals, corporations and countries alike. My experience so far, my maths and programming skills, coupled with my natural creativity which I continue to express not just in my curriculum and work but through music too, make me a unique candidate for a variety of projects. In 2023, my work as a Data Analyst with Open Corridor opened up a whole world of data science and applied mathematics, thanks to the excellent mentorship I was lucky to be receiving from the seniors in the team. To top it up, it gave me an opportunity to have an impact, in my own small way, on the very real goal of environmental sustainability. In 2024, I was privileged to join Quantile, An LSEG Business, as a Maths Finance summer intern. I gained full-time industry-level experience in advanced Python programming, centring on a wider project focusing on investigating add-ons in FX Cleared Margin. My time with them has made me fall in love with a career path of a quantitative developer/researcher and I hope to expand my programming horizons. This year, I am embarking on an internship with HCLTech as a technology intern, learning on the job about the software and AI domains. I am excited to build upon these learnings and contribute meaningfully to transformative solutions.
