ABOUT SHASHVAT SINGH

Shashvat Singh is a public policy and development consultant with extensive experience in formulating policies for infrastructural development and improving the lives of millions through effective and inclusive governance. Currently, he is writing a book on India\'s climate diplomacy and advising nonprofits with strategies to leverage green funding. Shashvat has served NITI Aayog, Government of India (GoI)’s premier policy think tank, where he authored policy documents to promote clean transportation, localise the SDGs and reform public utility regulation. He represented India at the United Nations (UN)\'s 6th Asia-Pacific Forum on Sustainable Development. He also managed the visibility of NITI Aayog’s 5th Governing Council Meeting, presided over by the Prime Minister (PM). At the Ministry of Home Affairs, GoI, he led a technical support unit to improve the Aspirational Districts Programme outcomes in the 35 left-wing extremism affected districts. As a Programme Officer at the UN, he collaborated with the GoI’s Ministries of Planning, Finance and External Affairs to roll-out the GoI-UN Sustainable Development Framework and created a review mechanism for the activities of the UN agencies operating in India.Shashvat has served as an aide of Prashant Kishor - India’s renowned political strategist-turned-activist, on expanding the reach of his governance reform movement in Bihar. As a Director of the Migrants Resilience Collaborative, he has advised the state governments of Chhattisgarh. Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra and Telangana on formulation and implementation of migrants-centric policies. He has contributed to growth of the Uttar Pradesh (UP) Behavioural Insights Unit through thought leadership and stakeholder engagement. As a Senior Manager at The/Nudge Institute, he forged alliances with the Government of UP and civil society to rebuild the livelihoods of 2.5 lakh families.Shashvat has written articles and reports for reputed publications such as The Hindu BusinessLine, Springer Nature, Swarajya and Dainik Jagran. He has also co-authored book chapters with the Vice Chairman of NITI Aayog and the Chairman of Economic Advisory Council to the PM.Shashvat is an alumnus of the Institute of Rural Management Anand and Symbiosis College of Arts & Commerce. He has received recognitions for his intellectual, professional and academic performances such as ‘Rising Star’ by NITI Aayog, ‘Young Thinker’ by India Foundation and ‘Best Outgoing Student’ by Symbiosis College. In 2023, the Government of Arunachal Pradesh invited him to undertake a border expedition.
