About Xiaoyuan Zhou

I am a senior bioinformatics scientist with 8+ years of experience applying machine learning and advanced statistics to high-dimensional omics data, including proteomics, metabolomics, lipidomics, genomics, transcriptomics, and microbiome data.My work focuses on building end-to-end analytical systems, from experimental data quality control and normalization to feature engineering, modeling, and biological interpretation. I design workflows that scale to tens of thousands of samples and produce results that are robust, interpretable, and ready to support real scientific and clinical decisions.At Seer, I lead scientific and technical contributions to mass-spectrometry proteomics and multi-omics programs, supporting biomarker discovery and diagnostic assay development across internal R&D and enterprise collaborations. I work closely with wet-lab scientists, machine learning engineers, and product teams to optimize assays, extend existing tools, and build new computational capabilities when standard solutions fall short.Previously at UCSF, my research integrated LC-MS metabolomics, microbiome profiling, RNA-seq, and clinical data to study immune-mediated and autoimmune disease, contributing to publications in Cell and Science Immunology.I’m motivated by building careful, durable data science systems at the intersection of biology, chemistry, and machine learning, particularly in biomarker discovery, diagnostics, and complex disease.
