ABOUT SHARON O.

Summary: Lead large enterprise change with emphasis on Emerging Technology, Data & Ai and Information Technologies, both strategy and governance. Able to create and communicate a vision and lead colleagues across functions and levels to embrace and execute it. MBA, Certified Professional Facilitator. While virtually every enterprise feels the pressure to “adapt or die,” it is a mistake to think that every emerging technology rainbow offers a pot of gold at the end. For over 20 years, I have been building and scaling “next generation” financial institutions, always ensuring that the “disruption” of emerging technologies was felt by our competitors and not internal systems. Technology alone cannot improve bottom lines or build organizational agility. Being competitive in the new industrial era is about what you know, whom you know and what others can help you do. Businesses must leverage operating models and ecosystem resources, not budgets, to create mutually beneficial structures to achieve their goals and objectives. Building effective organizational capabilities require digital leaders to see the big picture and lead with purpose, bringing everyone along to drive transformation at scale. Here are just a few accomplishments from my time as the architect and change agent of the Bank of Montreal’s (BMO’s) digital-first strategy for sustainably scaling businesses in today’s volatile market: Enabled BMO’s digital-first journey as the developer of its innovation strategy and roadmap and the executor of its enabling capabilities. Established its emerging technology advisory hub, a critical change agent that apprise the bank of opportunities and trends in its businesses to drive its digital first agenda. Identified and coordinated the adoption of disruptive technologies (blockchain, generative Ai, quantum, etc.) to modernize the bank\'s infrastructure with the goal of retaining and advancing its competitive edge, as technology continuously multiplies its impact throughout the financial sector. Represent BMO as a driver for industry-wide collaboration and alignment across digital infrastructure and capability-building initiatives hosted by the government, industry, and standard bodies, including Ai, open banking, CBDC and other emerging domains. Beyond finance and technology, I also have a deep tie with the healthcare sector, collaborating with partners to provide hands-on support those most vulnerable in our community.
