Veterans Employment Representative Career Counselor @State of Colorado

Provide career advise and employment assistance to veterans who are attending Colorado State University. Acting as a liasion between job seeker and employer for job placements, and acting as a career counselor for students seeking employment. Responsible for marketing and networking of the veterans program to outlying employers and organizations- Responsible for a yearly budget to assist economically disadvantaged veterans- Conducts quarterly civilian and federal resume workshops to job seeking veterans- Attended and actively networked 6 job fairs in a 9 month period to seek out employers who are actively hiring- Assist veterans to deconstruct their military experience in order to translate their skills on resumes to speak to the needs of the 21st century employers; as a result have helped to place 18 veterans into employment in a 9 month time frame- Initiated and continuously orchestrated a grass roots effort for 7 years running to reach out to economically disadvantaged veterans in northern Colorado. These efforts include bringing together over 20 local service providers to serve veterans on a yearly basis with financial assistance, legal services, housing assistance, child care needs and various other community and faith based needs. Serving over 900 individual veterans to date- Project manager of the veterans stand-down and director of the steering stand-down committee consisting of over 35 staff members.
