ABOUT SHARON NANAN-SEN
Chief Executive of Wolverhampton Voluntary and Community Action, working alongside communities, voluntary organisations and partners to help create a fairer, more inclusive Wolverhampton. My work is rooted in a strong belief that people and communities know what they need. WVCA exists to support them, champion their voices, and help remove the barriers that stop people from thriving. We support the city’s voluntary, community, social enterprise and faith (VCSEF) sector by bringing people together, securing and sharing resources, and creating space for collaboration, co-design and learning. A key part of my role is working across sectors - particularly with health, local authority and funding partners - to ensure community-led solutions are valued, trusted and properly resourced. I’m especially passionate about tackling inequality, supporting people who feel excluded, and making sure decisions that affect communities are shaped by lived experience. Key elements of my work include fundraising, trustee recruitment, advocacy and working with a Boards of Trustees and regulatory compliance bodies including the Charity Commission and Companies House. I’m proud to lead an organisation with deep roots in Wolverhampton and a long history of supporting grassroots action. Consistently, our sector makes a huge difference every day. My role is to help create the conditions where that impact can grow. Always happy to connect with people who care about communities, collaboration and positive social change.
