ABOUT SHARON KING

I am a dedicated rare disease advocate who has brought together public officials, researchers, industry leaders, and patient advocates to advance treatment development and public policy. Drawing on over 20 years in public service, I co-founded Taylor\'s Tale to support CLN1 (Batten) disease awareness and research, and advocate for the needs of rare disease patients and families. Along with family and friends, we were able to grow this grassroots initiative into a force in the fight against rare diseases. In my previous role, I served as Senior Lead of Advocacy at Aldevron and currently sit on the North Carolina Advisory Council on Rare Diseases. The law that established the Council - the nation\'s first - was named for my daughter. I also serve on the Emily Whitehead Foundation Board of Directors (Program Chair), and the Foundation for the National Institutes of Health as Patient Ambassador. My personal experience as a caregiver drives my support for patient-centered, comprehensive care networks.I am thrilled to begin a new chapter in my career as Chief Operating Officer at the National MPS Society. In this role, I will be dedicated to enhancing operational excellence, fostering strategic partnerships, and driving initiatives that support individuals and families impacted by MPS and ML. It is both an honor and a privilege to contribute to an organization that has consistently inspired me with its remarkable mission-driven focus and unwavering commitment to those it serves.
