ABOUT SHARON E. NELSON
SHARON E NELSON, M.A. Nonprofit consultant, Writer, Travel AdvisorI am a creative administrator and nonprofit leader with more than 30 years’ experience generating change-excitement in philanthropy. My areas of expertise include equity and inclusion, convening and facilitating cross-sector engagement, development writing, strategic planning, and operational efficiency. I have led development and communications strategies for international and regional entities in healthcare, social services, the arts, and economic development - with a specific emphasis on aligning mission engagement with brand voice. I am an avid outdoors-enthusiast. When not at my desk you can find me biking, kayaking, camping, gardening, birding, hiking – at home or around the globe. I put that passion to the greater good in a number of ways. As the inaugural elected Chair for the City of Winston-Salem’s Bicycle Pedestrian and Active Mobility Advisory Council, I was proud to work with City leaders and BPAC members to implement measures which improve safe and accessible micro-mobility options across the Greater Winston-Salem community. I also work with organizations in Homer, Alaska, to help preserve land and wildlife habitats while also encouraging sustainable outdoor recreation.I fully believes that a life well-lived is one centered in purposeful action and aligned with the heart. Make it count!
