ABOUT SHARNAY LYNN HEARN DAVIS

Sharnay Hearn Davis is a dynamic professional and a steadfast advocate for social justice. She is committed to creating equitable opportunities for women and underrepresented communities. Her multifaceted career reflects her passion for fostering positive change, which she often shares through public speaking engagements, including a TEDx Talk.Hearn Davis\'s academic journey has laid the foundation for her advocacy work. She earned a Bachelor\'s degree in Social Work from Slippery Rock University, where her interest in women\'s and gender studies inspired her to study abroad at the University of Buea in Cameroon, focusing on women\'s and gender roles in Africa. She further developed her leadership and community development skills with a Master\'s in Community Leadership from Duquesne University. She is pursuing a Doctorate in Educational Leadership and Administration from the same institution. 2014 Hearn Davis began her public service career by joining the Mayor\'s Office under Mayor William Peduto as a Community Affairs Liaison. During her time in this role, she supported \"My Brother\'s Keeper,\" a program aimed at promoting the success of Black males and improving public safety. Recognizing the significant lack of support for Black women, she founded The Sisters Lifting as We Climb Network in 2015. The Network has provided essential \"healing spaces,\" offered over in professional development scholarships, and created platforms to promote Black women-owned businesses. Hearn Davis\'s dedication to this cause also motivated her to write \"Realities of Black Women,\" a book sharing the powerful stories of ten Black women in Pittsburgh, responding to a 2019 study highlighting the challenges they face in the city. Throughout her career, Hearn has been a sought-after Cultural Strategist and Community Engagement Consultant, using her expertise to help organizations develop culturally responsive strategies and foster authentic connections with diverse communities.Hearn Davis\'s influence goes beyond local initiatives. In 2012, she was chosen as a One Young World Ambassador, representing the City of Pittsburgh on a global stage. Her contributions to social justice have earned her multiple proclamations. In 2020, she received the prestigious ATHENA Young Professional Award from the Pittsburgh Technology Council, honoring her commitment to mentoring others. She was also named a BMe Vanguard Fellow. Most recently, she received a 40 Under 40 award from Pittsburgh Magazine, acknowledging her achievements and leadership within the region.
