Sharnae Smith is the Owner and manager of a personal brand devoted to educating and serving the community in the areas of business coaching/consulting and estate planning. She enjoys assisting her clients with their varied needs. Assisting her business clients with their intellectual property needs (copyright, trademark, licensing matters, and more) is amongst her most enjoyable work. With over 11 years of legal experience, she has practiced several areas of law. Graduating law school at the height of a recession, she began her legal career as a solo practitioner, owning a general practice. There she practiced family law, business law, unemployment insurance appeals, bankruptcy, foreclosure prevention, and estate planning. She began her career as a public servant in 2014 as a Law Clerk for the Department of Youth Rehabilitation Services Office of General Counsel. From there she was hired by the State of Maryland\'s Department of Budget and Management where she was a Settlement Officer and Coordinator of the state\'s Shared Neutrals Program. In those positions, she was responsible for negotiating settlements between employee unions and state government management on employee disciplinary matters and coordinating mediations around the state for EEO and employee workplace issues. She also mediated cases for the state. Her career with the federal government began with the Department of Defense where she spent over 5 years of her career. There she became experienced with employee relations, informal and formal EEO counseling, and government ethics. She served as the Chief of Ethics for the Defense Intelligence Agency and currently serves as an Attorney Advisor Team Lead in the Financial Disclosure Branch of the Department of Interior.
