ABOUT SHARIFA HIMIDAN

With over 20 years of experience in pediatric surgery, I am passionate about improving the outcomes and quality of life for children and their families. I served as a pediatric surgeon and the Director of Community General Pediatric Surgery at Humber River Hospital and the Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto, where I performed routine, complex, and minimally invasive procedures. As a leader, I am committed to training, mentoring, and evaluating Pediatric Surgeons and other clinical/administrative staff to ensure exceptional care quality. I also direct multidisciplinary teams across healthcare system to align our practices with value-based and patient-centered care models. During the course of my career, I have cofounded and led projects that aimed to revolutionize healthcare, drive innovation, and empower pediatric surgeons around the world with cutting-edge technology and evidence-based practices. As the cofounder of CIGITI and Sanovica, I oversaw the vision, strategy, and operations of the organizations, as well as managed partnerships, fundraising, and product development. I hold an MD and an MBA from the D\'Amore-McKim School of Business at Northeastern University, where I gained valuable skills in leadership, entrepreneurship, and innovation. I am driven by the mission of advancing pediatric surgery and creating a positive impact for children, families, and communities. I bring diverse perspectives and experiences to the field, which include working across North America and the Middle East in both urban and rural settings, as well as a strong commitment to excellence, collaboration, and continuous learning.I was also the first-ever female Chair and International Graduate to lead the Examination Board (Pediatric Surgery Subspecialty) for The Royal College of Physicians & Surgeons of Canada. I believe this illustrates my commitment to excellence in the field, passion for quality practice, and leadership vision and ability.
