Provide reference assistance to the staff of the Smithsonian Institution and fellows, interns, volunteers, and visiting researchers• Perform collections management duties for the general, reference, and special collections located in the National Air and Space Museum (NASM), Museum Support Center (MSC), and National Museum of American History (NMAH)• Respond to inquiries and requests for information by conducting research using both library materials and online research tools• Perform special projects (organizing collections, creating finding aids, creating spreadsheets on gifts and collections data, pack and transfer/withdraw library materials, etc.)• Manage the circulation of requested items to and from the NASM and MSC Libraries• Survey acquisitions, gifts, and donations and create new records in the online catalog • Fulfill requests made through Inter- and Intra-Library Loan (ILL) and digitally scan requested items• Draft and edit articles, news briefs, reports, proposals, spreadsheets, and correspondence intended for both internal and external audiences• Create blog articles designed to educate and promote awareness of material housed within the collections of the Smithsonian Libraries• Receive and ship library material designated for transfer and withdrawal from multiple SIL branches• Perform archives management tasks for material (serials, pamphlets, newsletters, brochures, etc.) housed in NASM\'s Rare Books and Special Collections and create finding aids with the aid of ArchivesSpace • Review material housed in library collections for preservation needs and address accordingly• Participate in working groups and committees focusing on themes such as digitization, digital libraries, social media and outreach, and copyright law
