About Shanti Joy Gold

I’m grateful for so much in my career. I spent 20+ years in media sales, leading sales execs and teams at top national companies to achieve goals in competitive marketplaces. I experienced the magic that happens by fostering an environment based on authenticity, empowerment, mutual accountability, trust and fun. My passion for helping individuals and teams to achieve goals ultimately led me to professional coaching. I served as Director of Admissions for iPEC, one of the world’s premier professional coaching institutions, and benefited from iPEC’s transformational training, receiving 3 certifications.AND, looking back, I realize that as a gay woman navigating my career, I had some legitimately “not normal” and challenging moments. If you’re an LGBTQ+ or underrepresented person, you’ve likely had similar experiences at work, where you feel: Vulnerable - you weigh decisions about how much to share about yourself - and when and how - against how safe you feel in a given moment and the possible negative impact on your career Emotionally stretched - when you decide to share vulnerably, you summon courage and brace yourself for the unknowns that follow Hurt - you experience words or behavior that - either intentionally or unintentionally - are insensitive to your core truths Misunderstood and isolated - you hold back parts of yourself in order to feel safe and fit in, and you don’t feel seen for who you really are Exhausted and disconnected - the extra layers of it all weigh you down and drain your energy, and at some point you build walls to protect yourselfThere\'s also good news. I’ve come to believe that my underrepresented-ness offered me unique experiences and a worldview that ultimately guided my path and fueled my strengths. I had my biggest successes after I decided to come out at work (see my website’s My Story page for unintended comedic moments). As I led teams, I was able to look people in the eye as I put authenticity first, using it as the glue to bind us and as a tool to draw out each person’s unique brilliance.I was called to professional coaching, which reinforced my understanding that no matter what comes our way, we are in control of how we choose to respond when life inevitably throws us curve balls. Simply, when I’ve lived in alignment and used my unmuted inner compass as my guide, success has followed.
